Artful Home is recruiting a HR Manager to join its forward-thinking team. This dynamic leader will be at the forefront of building a robust entrepreneurial culture as the owner of Organizational Development, and be a key player in developing and promoting a progressive, employee-centered Human Resources function.

The ideal candidate will be a career professional with an appetite for change and process improvement with future advancement potential. This thought leader will be a skilled collaborator who can juggle multiple priorities while delivering consistently excellent service to the employees they advocate for. This position will have direct supervisory responsibilities for at least 2.0 FTE. This position will have the ability to work remotely, with as needed travel to Madison, WI.

The HR Manager will be responsible for:

Human Resources Leadership

  • Provides strategic and administrative leadership over Artful Home's human resources function, serving 80+ employees across five states
  • Collaborates with senior leadership to understand and implement strategy and goals related to staffing, recruitment, and retention
  • Monitors and ensures organizational compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance

Talent Acquisition

  • Develops, implements, and leads a comprehensive recruitment strategy focused on increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization
  • Serves as the primary subject matter expert and liaison to management to provide advice on recruitment best practices and disseminate applicable policies and procedures
  • Develops and maintains relationships with key recruitment agencies/partners to build mutually-beneficial recruitment pipelines

Compensation Planning

  • Oversees and improves upon the compensation plan for Artful Home
  • Assesses market data to determine wage competitive across all key functional areas on a seasonal basis
  • Provides guidance on COLA increases and company bonus structures

Employee Experience

  • Develops, leads, and facilities the Employee Relations Function within Artful Home. Communicates with employees on and investigates employee relations concerns, including but not limited to those related to state and federal EEOC laws; provides guidance and recommendations for resolution of issues.
  • Collaborates with managers and supervisors in understanding and implementing company policies related to performance, discipline, and related topics.
  • Owns, develops, and leads the offboarding process, conducting exit interviews as needed. In collaboration with the Talent Development Manager, develops and implements the employee onboarding process.
  • Negotiates annual Benefit contracts, assesses coverage and costs, and awards contracts accordingly. Negotiates with vendors to improve services for employees.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders with varying degrees of seniority, employee classification, and lived experiences
  • Excellent interpersonal, counseling, and negotiation skills; experience in maintaining tact and discretion as needed
  • A demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion with a successful track record of embedding those principles into daily practice
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to juggle multiple, often conflicting priorities, delegating tasks as needed in a fast-paced environment
  • Proactive and proficient ability to diagnose issues and work across the organization to find mutually beneficial solutions
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Familiarity with ATS, payroll processing software such as iSolved, and employee self-service platforms.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field. A Master's degree in a related field or HR Certification preferred.
  • Minimum of seven years professional experience in Human Resources, including but not limited to, personnel management, recruitment, total compensation, payroll processing and HRIS (Human Resources Information System) management.
  • Previous experience in managing multi-state, multi-location work environments preferred.
